Layering Color

I hope I have captured the essence of what the customer wanted for this. I started with a graded wash of Cobalt Blue near the bottom and Ultramarine Blue in the sky. I added a second wash of the two colors to intensify the top portion of the sky. Then I added the headlands in the distance followed by the distant horizon of the sea.
Preserving the white to create light, I developed reflections by pushing down on my brush, holding it horizontally to create a wavy pattern. I kept adding layers to develop more depth.
Thank you to Birgit O’Connor and the Beyond the Courses Group for their inspiration and support.
