My heart bleeds for the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti and for the citizens of Minnesota who are experiencing loss and fear. My artwork is mostly flowers and landscapes, so I am expressing my sadness at this situation in the form of Bleeding-Heart flowers.
Expressing the power of love, I have been working on a series of watercolors that show hope for love. The first painting, entitled “Love Locks” was based on the Love Locks on bridges that I saw in Germany last year. Couples attach locks to bridges inscribed with their initials hoping the love they feel will last forever. This universal hope has resulted in a series of paintings that symbolize the universal hope for love. Naturally, I have added numerous flower paintings, as flowers are commonly gifted to people we care about. You can see these paintings at the Corner Gallery MCAA pony wall starting on First Friday, February 6, 5 pm to 8 pm, 201 S. State Street, Ukiah, CA 95482.
