On a trip to San Francisco’s Japantown last spring, I took a picture of a cherry tree on Buchanan mall and painted it once I returned home. The cherry blossom is a favorite subject of mine since it expresses the impermanence of life because the blossoms last a short time and then fall through the air like snowflakes.
