Last year (2023) during the early summer I asked John Mayfield if I could use his picture of his bee on a blackberry blossom to paint. The first attempt is the painting on the bottom, which I was not satisfied with, feeling the colors were too dark for summer.
This year (2024) I am painting it again and hope it will come out brighter & better! The top painting is just getting started, and I am using brighter colors. It is at what I call the ugly stage, because the blue making fluid that I will remove (to leave white paper to work on) for the center of the blossom makes it look strange. I hope to make the wings of the bee more translucent. More to come!
